I have to admit that for today's post I was a little at a loss for what to post. The first post in my series about the Green Ember (more about that in this week's newsletter!) wasn't finished yet, and none of my snippets were well edited.
And then, late yesterday, I saw the prompt for an August Flashfiction Challenge and I was hooked. I decided to share this snippet with you today—enjoy!
Here we go 'round the mulberry bush—
Footsteps echoed down the empty hall.
Don’t look around you.
Don’t panic, they said.
Here we go ‘round the mulberry bush—
Don’t speak, they said.
Otherwise they’ll find you.
Memories floated by her.
Here we go 'round the mulberry bush—
Gray clouded the girl’s vision.
Hush, the sky’s not blue.
Here we go 'round the mulberry bush—
Haunting melodies filled her brain.
Don’t let the whispers get to you.
